CALCULATION OF BLOW DOWN USING WATER CHEMISTRY (1.0 )

(This sub routine is part of the boilerOptimizer program and is available as a stand alone independant program)

If you are using Mud blows, that is, manual intermitent blows,
time blows so that the system is stable and in thermal equilibrium
when you take readings

We need the % Blowdown to confirm feedwater & steam rates

We need readings on the blowdown, feedwater and treated makeup waters.

Calculate the BLOWDOWN using a suitable ion such as chloride, or silica.
Do not use conductivity except as a last resort.
If posible, test 2 or more different ions for best accuracy
Consult with your water treatment company if you need help here.
A good reference is The Nalco Water Handbook chapter 39

 Blowdown ppm

 Feed Water ppm

 Make Up ppm

 2750

BLOWDOWN IS COMPUTED AS 2.11 %

Condensate Returns = 74 %

You should always attempt to recover the heat from the blowdown
either by flashing to low pressure steam or heat exchange.
